Your fieldtypes folder path is invalid
"Your fieldtypes folder path is invalid" even though they have been checked against my sites themes folder and are 100% correct. Any ideas ? I have renamed my system folder to admin does this have an effect? (my paths reflect this renaming) running php v5.2.6 on linux server.. getting desperate .. large forehead veins are appearing...

What you need to do is this:
In your site.com/admin/extensions/fieldtypes/ folder create a file called docroot.php and put in that file the following code:
Then visit that file in your browser (www.site.com/admin/extensions/fieldty...) and it should tell you the correct path to put in the config.
YOU MUST DELETE THIS FILE AFTER RUNNING IT!!!!
Enjoy!!

I also encountered this (using version 1.2.0)
This appears when I toggle the configuration via config.php using $conf['ft_path'] and $conf['ft_url'].
To resolve it, you need to add a slash at the end of the ft_path and ft_url. This is different than if you type in within the admin interface.
Since this is different than other path and URL treatments, I would consider this a bug. -

My problem was simple. I cant spell "extentions"! all working perfect for me now. Have fun.

nakedgremlin — The only difference is that when you save your settings, FF will check to see if there's a slash at the end, and if not, it will add one in for you. I suppose I could do the same check every time FieldFrame gets initialized if you're using the $conf variables, but that would be in the spirit of defensive design, not a bug fix.

I'm having the same problem. Getting the same message when I'm about positive my fieldtypes folder path is all spelled correctly. I've attached a screen capture of my folder path. What do I have wrong here?

I have the path looking like this in the extension settings (my system folder is renamed to 'expeng'):
/lifecounselingcenter.net/expeng/extensions/fieldtypes/
Thanks for your help. -

Great extension Brandon but encountering same problem ("Your fieldtypes folder path is invalid"). I'm on a dev server though so using an IP address until ready to go and client repoints domain to my server. I imagine this is causing the grief. To clarify, the "URL to your “fieldtypes” folder" is currently set to:
http://217.146.89.136/~username/syste...
Otherwise domain resolves fine at http://217.146.89.136/~username/. Any ideas much appreciated. -

Hi Tobin and Ian,
Make sure your Fieldtypes Folder has at least 705 permissions, so that FieldFrame can read and execute from the directory. -
-
Wow, thanks for the rapid response. Folder currently set to 755, so don't think it's that.

As I mentioned above, my hosting is through Media Temple- and if anyone else is on MT as well, you need to add more to your path to get it to work.
/nfs/cluster-number/storage-segment-number/mnt/SITEID/ ...
and then domains/...
You can find your grid/cluster/site id numbers from logging into the AC and selecting server guide.
Hope this helps. -

Has there been any solution to this?
I have permissions set to 777
I use Media Temple DV and according to there docs, the path should be:
/var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/system/extentions/fieldtypes/
I am still getting "Your fieldtypes folder path is invalid"
Any insight to this is greatly appreciated-
I have DV as well; there's no magic going on there (unlike GS or Rackspace Cloud hosting).
Did you replace 'domain.com' with your domain, and 'system' with the correct path to your system folder? If you get it right, it will work. -

Yeah, i just put in generic information for privacy reasons. I have the actual domain name and system folder in place.
For the url (which may be the issue then if i am doing the path correctly)
http://www.domain.com/systemfolder/ex...
Does it need to have an 'index.php' somewhere in there?-
No, but make sure there’s a trailing slash on the URL.
It’s possible you’re on an older DV box, and perhaps the instructions you read don’t apply to you. Try contacting MT. -

This little tool should be in the docs for this extension. I had NO IDEA the path for my system was the path this thing returned. Obviously it worked great. Brandon, I'd seriously consider showing people this thing in the installation docs to save a lot of trial and error and of course repeated forum posts about it. Just my two cents...

Thanks, this worked for me.

I did what John said and I had the correct path in there (As I had checked in Admin > System Preferences > General Configuration already)
These are the Path and URL I have entered
/home/content/n/a/t/natejosiah/html/system/extensions/fieldtypes/
http://www.wewwl.com/system/extension...
And I still get:
"Your fieldtypes folder path is invalid."
The permissions on the folder is 755.
Anything else I could be doing wrong?-
Sorry, there was a space in front of the very first forward slash. It works now. I'm an idiot.
