What would be the best solution for adding file upload functionality to Wygwam? This is by far the most requested feature by our clients and is a must have for us. How well does ckfinder integrate?
Thanks!

File browsing and uploading has officially been added in Wygwam 1.1.
Thanks to all of you who helped test!

Hi Samuel,
CKFinder seems to integrate well into CKEditor, and you're more than welcome to try it out yourself. A future update for Wygwam will address this, either through CKFinder or something else.-
angie September 02, 2009 19:03What about using the filebrowser plugin that I saw in the plugins folder? I've been looking at the documentation and I can't really see how to get that going.EditDeleteRemove

1I believe that has something to do with CKFinder. But honestly I just haven't had the chance to look into it yet.
This is by far the #1 requested feature though, so it will definitely be addressed soon.-
I thought Wygwam had the file browser since I saw it on the product demo page. I hope this gets fixed soon because this is the reason I purchased it. Otherwise a great product :)

Me too, on the mistaken impression bandwagon. Will love to use this once it's ready.

I got CKFinder working with Wygwam. Integrates pretty well but I had to modify ft.wygwam.php in order to include some more js. Also, CKFinder runs in Demo mode unless you buy a license.

Interesting. If I decide to go with CKFinder, I will grab the OEM license which will cover everyone. I'd like to wait until I've at least broken even with the CKEditor OEM license first though :)
-
-
Hopefully that won't be too long! I'm already trying to think of what other sites we're developing could use Wygwam. :)

I'm starting to lean against CKFinder, just because I'm not a big fan of it. Supposedly version 2 is going to be better, so my opinion might change at that point.
Instead, thinking about adding my own new Image tab that displays all the images in a specified upload directory. -
-
That would work too. At this point, having a way to upload files (rather than just images) would be great.
-
-
That wouldn't be very appropriate for the Image dialog, but I might be able to add something to the general Link dialog as well.

I'm impressed with Wigwam, but I will throw my hat into the ring with a file upload/manager feature.
While not perfect, EP Editor is the best solution I have yet seen for integrating EE File upload with a wysiwyg editor. -
-
Yep, I agree that uploading files wouldn't be appropriate for the image dialog, but adding something to the general Link dialog would be sweet!

I hope there is any progress integrating a file upload system. In fact I can't use this fantastic extension without it.

Sorry, been very busy with the Apple launch and getting my wisdom teeth pulled. I'm feeling the heat though, and will address it as soon as possible. But bundling a file manager is a big decision, since the OEM licenses are expensive. So I need to spend some time playing around with the different options, before making a decision on which to go with, or if I should just write something myself.

I had added a field called image location helper where the client could use the regular image upload button and get the location of the image in this field then copy and paste into wygwam image dialog. Problem is the editor doesn't parse ee tags like {filedir_2/imag.jpg}. Any chance it could parse this or ideas on how to make this work with images? As it is I can not use this wonderful editor as there is no realistic way for clients to add images.

can Allow EE code plugin help it? I didn't try... http://expressionengine.com/downloads...

I know this is taking longer than I may have implied, and I apologize. But it's only been two weeks, and I've spent most of that time recovering from surgery, dealing with an allergic reaction to the pain meds, and trying to fix actual bugs. I will get to this as soon as possible, I promise. Thanks for your continued patience.

Ouch! Dental surgery!

Hi Brandon, take your time recovering, that's more important :). In the mean while I will use the good old FCKEditor.

Add us to the list to have a File* up-loader integrated in Wygwam.
* all files, pdf, jpeg, tiffs, docs, etc -

I've spent some time comparing CKFinder and TinyBrowser, and contemplated rolling my own. CKFinder wins. I’ve got it working locally, and have purchased an OEM license.
If any of you have time to help beta test, please give me your GitHub username, and I'll get you on-board in the next couple days. If all goes well, hoping to have the update out in about a week.- view 2 more comments

Discovered an error with the Wygwam tool bar configurator.
Error message appears in the tool bar config window - text is as follows:
Warning: reset() [function.reset]: Passed variable is not an array or object in /home/toads/public_html/nucleus/extensions/fieldtypes/wygwam/views/site_settings.php on line 7
Image attached.
Notes:
• upgraded extension
• disabled, then reenabled Wygam
• rebuilt the "custom" tool menu
Error message still appears. Good news is that it doesn't seem to have any effect on the usability of the extension.
Great update Brandon!-
Thanks! Fixed in Wygwam 1.1.1.

This is awesome! I've been tracking this all week and will now finally go and buy Wygwam. Thanks everyone.

It took me a while to figure out the new ckfinder features were integrated into the existing image button (I was looking for an "upload" button on the toolbar). Great feature. I also reallllly like the hide/show feature, to prevent my users from seeing options that they won't understand.
