I just upgraded from EE 1.7.1 running MSM to 2.4.0. I can access the control panel but when I try to access the main site, I get this error:
Error
Unable to load requested field type file: ft.ftype_id_2.php.
Confirm the fieldtype file is located in the expressionengine/third_party/ directory

Hi,
Go into your database and take a look at your exp_channel_fields table. Any fields that have a field_type of "ftype_id_X" need to be converted to EE2 counterparts.
Let me know what the original Field Type's were set to, and I can help you with the conversion. -

Hmm, that’s odd. Does the error give you a filename and line number where it’s occurring?
-
-
No it does not. I have tried to track it down and there is nothing I can see that relates to it. You can take a look here: http://dayofservice.org/
P.S. As a result of this error - four websites are down and have been down since yesterday morning. I would really appreciate your help in a timely resolution. Thanks. -

Hi Brandon, one other note. I don't always get notified when a response is posted to these cases. Fortunately I came back and checked to see if you had responded again. Not sure why the notifications don't come through.

Hi Brandon,
Good news. I went into the database and did a search for ftype and found one row that had a reference to ftype_id_2. I removed the row and the site is working correctly.
Please close this case. Thanks. -
-
Sweet! Do you remember which table & column you found it in?
-
-
Okay, so I'm having a similar problem. But I'm not sure that I want to just delete all the rows that have this syntax going on.
I have several rows with ftype_id_1 and ftype_id_2.
Oh and I found them in the exp_channel_fields, in the field_type column (not field_type_id). -
-
No, you definitely don't want to delete them. You just want to update their field_type column to the name of the fieldtype you want to set them to.
-
-
Right. So the question is, what is the mapping of fieldtype's to ftype_id_1 and ftype_id_2...
-
-
Those are references to the fieldtype_id column in exp_ff_fieldtypes. So check that table.
-
-
So I did some comparison with the field types on my old site, and it appears that 'ftype_id_1' should be 'file' and 'ftype_id_2' should be matrix.
Now I don't think this makes the fields functionally equivalent, but at least it stops the loading errors. -

If it was an nGen File field, you should take a look at this thread: http://expressionengine.com/forums/vi...
