Greetings,
My first post at Pixel and Tonic. I'm fairly new at ExpressionEngine, but building up momentum!
I have been using Joomla, but my deep frustrations with its templating limitations has made me look to ways to revamp my site development with ExpressionEngine.
Front-end submission is an essential part of sites I build. In Joomla, I used what they call a "CCK" (same term used in Drupal). What I love about ExpressionEngine is that the CCK concept is a core assumption, rather than an extension.
OK, by default, I've been using SafeCracker to build front-end forms. But I find it rather limited. Pixel and Tonic has some great resources that appear to be useful for building front-end forms.
My question: do Pixel and Tonic add-ons replace SafeCracker, or are they meant to work inside SafeCracker? Or is it not that simple?
Again, please excuse my question if it is rather naive! I'm still making a full transition to EE!
Thanks,
Matthew

Hi Matthew,
You can actually get any field type to display in your SafeCracker form, and have it look and behave the same way as in the Publish page, using the {field:my_field_name} tag.
All of P&T‘s field types will work with that tag. -

Hi Brandon,
OK, right. See, this is one of the reasons I like ExpressionEngine.
In Joomla, for example, plugins are almost always isolated to themselves and are only able to refer to their own material. This idea of creating fields in one add-on that can be accessed in another one is a bit of a paradigm shift for anyone accustomed to the Joomla way.
Thanks very much for the reply!
