I know it can be done as a super-admin from the Add-Ons > Modules > Assets page, but can it be done while editing a page?
To add some background, we're using EE and Assets as a mini document management system (Assets is part of a Matrix file field), and in many cases, editors need to delete an old document, before uploading a new version.
Note that the 'Remove File' button only removes the link from the page, we want to delete the file from the server.
Any help would be much appreciated.
How can content editors delete files from the server within the Assets modal?

Hi Balal,
The answer is: They can't. If authors must be able to delete files, you need to give them access to the Assets module, which you can do from their member group preferences. -

Could I submit this as a feature request then?
So the option to allow authors to delete files is available in the general Assets settings or when you assign it to a field.
Thanks. -

I'm not at all interested in making it possible, sorry. You have no way of knowing if the file is being used on any other entries, and I'd rather err on the side of having extra files on the server.
