Browse Server button not visible

Edit Subject

We upgraded from EE 2.1.0 to EE 2.3.1
Also upgraded Wygwam from 2.0.4 to 2.3.5
Installed Assets 1.1.3

None of the user groups sees the "Browse server" button

All folders and permissions are set:
- upload folder in wygwam configurations is set
- all user groups have access to it (set in content/file upload preferences)
- on server, we tried setting permissions for that folder to 755 and 777
- for file browser in wygwam settings we tried Assets, EE File Manager and CKFinder
- configuration settings are as follows: entites is set to NO (tried setting to YES aswell), language is set to Croatian (tried with English aswell), templates_replaceContent is set to NO (tried setting to YES)

We checked Image window with Firebug and the "Browse server" button is set to "display:none". Tried setting it to "display:block", then it shows but its not functional

Hi,

Can you make sure the your upload folder is set to allow "All"? Also, make sure you're accessing your site with the same domain that is set in your "URL to your 'themes' folder" under your EE site configuration. Keep in mind that www.domain.com and domain.com are considered two different sites.

I'm having this problem too. Completely flummoxed by it. Just upgraded to EE 2.3.1 and the latest Wygwam. Upload folder set to allow all (assuming you mean all file types). Upload button is set to display: none. Any suggestions?

Thanks Brad--I admit I hadn't noticed that page on the P&T site, so thanks for pointing it out.

However, it basically says to "Select an upload directory in the Upload Directory setting, and save the configuration", which I had already done, and I've repeated it just to make sure, and the problem persists, I'm afraid. :(

I don't have any MSM running. I have a pretty simple setup--nothing fancy. Just using Wygwam and Matrix, not much else.

Sorry this is so tricky! I've looked over everything with a fine tooth comb and can't spot anything out of place. I have another site running with the same setup on the same server with no problems! Bizarre. :(

I got the button back by choosing the first button configuration: Basic. Tried creating new one, didnt work. Tried cloning Basic so I can have more different looks and upload folders but no. Only that first Basic setup gave me the upload button back.

The site is set without www in settings and in htaccess and we are accessing it without www.

Update:
A day after I upgrade to 2.3.1, EE 2.4 comes out. Bah! Anyhow, have now upgraded to EE 2.4 and Wygwam 2.4 and the upload button is back. :-)

I've been experiencing problems with a missing Browse Server button. Systematic (exhaustive/exhausting) testing shows that in my case:

Using the EE File Manager always give me a Browse Server button, but no Upload tab.

Using CKFinder, with the Wygwam Upload Directory set to --, I get neither a Browse Server button nor an Upload tab.

Using CKFinder, with the Wygwam Upload Directory specifically set, I get *both* a Browse Server button and an Upload tab...

Don't know if this makes sense or is consistent with others' experience, but unfortunately I really want to get the second of the above working, as I need CK's subdirectory handling.

Hi Brian,

That's correct. It's due to different limitations with CKFinder and EE's bulit-in uploader.

CKFinder can't be configured to show more than one root upload directory. So if you don't have one set, Wygwam doesn't know which directory to configure CKFinder to display, so it just disables upload functionality altogether.

EE's built-in uploader doesn't have a way to connect to CKEditor's ajax uploader, so if you have EE selected, you don't get an Upload tab.

Thanks - OK. I'll have to use the method of using a root uploads directory for Wygwam and rely on the user to put files in the right place.

Which brings me to another question. In Any way to easily hide file upload tab? you posted an extension to hide the Upload tab (as this guarantees that files will be uploaded in the wrong place!). It's no longer on github - is it still possible?

I'm running into this issue myself. Upgraded from EE 2.1.3 to EE 2.4, and from... gosh, I don't even remember what Wygwam to the latest 2.5.

* The Wygwam field is tied to my main upload directory.
* My URLs are the same both in the File Upload area and in the General Settings to the theme folder. (both NON-www)
* I've got Assets also installed. All fields have been changed from file to Assets fields.

This was happening before we upgraded, though. Before, we were getting the "browse server shows up but opens a blank box/error". After upgrade, we're getting no browse server button at all, let alone and upload file option.

Thoughts? I've read over this and tried all the tricks recommended here (I think!).

Well, apparently, nevermind. It looks like some of the CKFinder files didn't upload. I just re-uploaded the add-on a second time and now its working.

So just pretend I never spoke. ;-)
